First Ever Professional Vegan Giveaway!!!

I'm thrilled to be hosting my first ever giveaway. I'm even more delighted because it's for a two (2!) pairs of books. I love clothing, but, honestly, I love books more. (How could I blog and not be obsessed with books and words?) And this giveaway includes one of my favorite books about food and veganism. Here it is:

This Friday, Magnolia Pictures is releasing the documentary FOOD, INC. in select cities (NYC, LA, and SF); during the rest of June and July, it will be expanding to additional cities. I've blogged about FOOD, INC. previously. In brief, FOOD, INC. explores our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the American consumer; it features interviews with Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma), among others. Which leads to the giveaway . . .

Magnolia Pictures is offering two lucky Professional Vegan readers a pair of books: both the FOOD, INC. movie companion book and Eric Schlosser’s Fast Food Nation (see pictures to jog memory of seeing these books in stores). That's two (2) winners who each get two (2) books.

Here's how to enter:
1. Comment below, on this thread, and tell me something about yourself or how you landed on this blog or what vegan-related book you most enjoy -- my content lends itself to non-commenting and I'd love to know how you got here, what you like, dislike, read, etc. Or, you may email me at professionalvegan@gmail.com. NOTE: I have comments set to blogger ID or openID -- if you know I'll be able to figure out how to get in touch with you based on that, comment away; otherwise, it's best to send me an email with your email address (or include your contact email in your comment).

2. You may only comment once, unless you share the giveaway on your blog, your facebook, or your twitter, etc.; if you do, come back & leave a second comment telling me where/how you shared -- then you’ll be considered to have two entries.

3. Winners will be randomly chosen and I’ll contact the winners to get your mailing address (and then Magnolia will send you the books). Entries end next Thursday (June 18) at 12 (noon) EST. In addition to emailing them, I'll announce the winners later that day.

Good luck!

I'm another one finding her way here from Tales of Expansion - she is doing her part! Helps that this is an awesome giveaway, of course. :)

I am not yet a vegan but I am interested in learning more about how I can eat and dress greener :) By the way, I loved the burberry dress you posted earlier. Who would have thought burberry would make vegan clothing!

i am so intrigued by the vegan lifestyle!

Oooh, I want to read these books! I have read parts of Fast Food Nation when I was studying media and also did a whole project on Food and Media while at NYU. And my good friend runs this blog!

Cool giveaway! I landed on this blog because my dear friend runs it. I'm a wanna-be vegetarian, completely illiterate in vegan works, and spend time thinking about how to forgo the whole food-consuming thing entirely. There must be some way to get our energy directly from the environment instead of through chemical changes by eating: thermal energy from the sun and friction, kinetic energy from objects moving relative to my body. Hey, maybe I could convert my arms into a windmill!

I read this blog because of YOU, silly! I want to win because I need to become inspired again. New Boyfriend = lots of bad eating habits developing. *eats bite on non-vegan tiramisu and hids*

Isn't reading Omnivore's Dilemma and In Defense of Food Enough? J/K I'll certainly read the books if I win them.

I assume you sent me a link to Prof. Vegan, but maybe Katie did?

First time poster, frequent contributor ; )

I also found your blog randomly on the internet. However, I then came back to follow it regularly because I mentioned it to a vegan law student who then told me you and she have a friend in common so she'd met you before.

I don't read much nonfiction of any kind, but I've met many vegan authors and I buy almost all their books to support them and the cause. I suppose my favorite vegan-related book that I've actually read is The Jungle by Upton Sinclair.

I do not wish to be entered into this contest, but I thought I'd answer your interesting questions anyway. Oh, something about myself - I'm the one who pointed out a while ago that bone china is made of animal bones.

I would totally like to win Food Inc. My favorite veganish book is The China Study by T. Colin Campbell. I found your blog because I have a Google Alert set to "vegan" and "blogs" and I happened to click here from there. If I win, my e-mail is joelled at gmail dot com.

I've been wanting to read this book. Now's my chance.
I stumbled upon this blog with the google search of "vegan and fashion." I think I was on the search for some nice vegan shoes. I appreciate all the vendors you've directed me to.
I haven't read too many books on veganism besides nutritional information and cookbooks (does the "Veganomicon" count as a favorite!!!) I did enjoy "In Defense of Food". I love its simple message which reaches out to omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans alike: "Eat food, not too much, mostly plants."

I heard about the site from you, of course! It's not vegan, but I've read The Omnivore's Dilemma, and I've been meaning to pick up Fast Food Nation for years now. In any case, they both look interesting--woo books!

I found your blog via google. I am not a vegan but I am thinking about possibly becoming one. My husband and I {and our little one} try to eat all local food and we would love to learn more about being a vegan. I also have been dying to read Fast Food Nation. We gave up eating fast food 5 years ago and have never looked back. Its disgusting!
